In April 2019, Extinction Rebellion blocks strategic traffic points in London for days, leading to the arrest of hundreds of nonviolent protesters. Rebellion works, responds international climate lawyer Farhana Yamin, seeming almost surprised when the government agrees to their demand to declare a climate emergency. For decades she has been at the heart of the UN, fighting for climate justice, but is disillusioned with the progress made. That's why she has now joined this new movement, which is holding governments accountable for their inaction on the climate crisis. Through civil disobedience and disrupting the status quo, the movement underlines the urgent need for radical change. Yamin is one of the activists the film follows closely from the movement’s launch in 2018. In interviews, group members reveal their motivations for participating and look back on their actions and the responses to them. We also witness some heated conflicts, such as when one of the founders clashes with his daughter after she demands more attention for the opinion of young people within the movement.
