1948年，国共内战已经到了白热化时期。国民党颓势已现，然而此时又恰恰是黎明前那最为黑暗的时刻。在一切纷争的交汇之地——十里洋场上海，被捕的地下党员王三星泄露一个惊天秘密。为了揪出叛徒王三星口中的卧底，保密局处长军同高级特工唐栋（柳云龙 饰）受命对可疑之人一一排查，最终拥有美貌与智慧的女医生李赫男（童蕾 饰）进入了她的视野。久经考验的李赫男自然第一时间便感知到蹲守在暗处满怀恶意与杀气的对手，她从容不迫的态度与胆识也让惯常风花雪月的唐栋难以自持。
在此后的日子里，男人与女人、情爱与理想的角力交替上演，成败就在一念间……
